During 2024, most of the University buildings were closed to visitors due to military aggression and the potential threats associated with it. Therefore, in 2024 the Scientific Library (SL) carried out its activities mainly in a remote format.
The only source of the SL fund replenishment were donations from readers, teachers, employees, University graduates and charitable and public organizations and publishing houses. Thanks to these revenues, the Scientific Library's fund was enriched with publications on information technology, programming, artificial intelligence, as well as valuable and meaningful publications on environmental topics.
During the year, a number of activities were carried out aimed at improving the "ElAr KhNURE" (https://openarchive.nure.ua/) institutional Repository, in particular:
The "Osyayannia" Literary Club continued its work in the direction of socio-cultural activities. The following events took place during the year:
In the area of scientometric investigations, searches were conducted in the SciVal according to various criteria, distribution of the University authors’ publications by journal quartiles; analysis of data on the Sustainable Development Goals; and reports on co-authorship with scientists from other countries. To use the built-in comparison tool, the lists of the University Department employees were unloaded to the SciVal, which made it possible to conduct comparative analysis by the number of publications, citations, h-index, and other indicators.
The electronic resource of the
On June 24, 2024, a contract was concluded for the purchase of services for checking texts and documents for borrowing using the StrikePlagiarism.com online system.
Throughout 2023, the Scientific Library actively supported the educational and scientific processes of the University. Access to international databases and own electronic resources was granted, and a high-quality user service was provided both remotely and partially within the Library walls. The Scientific Library also participated in providing information support for the University events and projects, and its employees were involved in work in other areas of the University's activities.
An important event of the year was the receipt by the KhNURE (as one of ten higher education institutions in Ukraine) of free access to the SciVal (Elsevier) analytical tool, designed to analyze publication activity in the Scopus database.
Over the course of the year, the Scientific Library staff carried out search queries and analytical samples in the SciVal according to various parameters:
Technical update was carried out in the direction of working with the institutional "ElAr KhNURE" Repository: the repository website was transferred to the new version of the Google Analytics counter, namely, GA4, since support for the previous version was discontinued from July 1, 2023, and the new system had a different data collection principle. In addition, the "ElAr KhNURE" integrated with the ORCID enabled users to authenticate via the ORCID and transfer data between this platform and the Repository.
Cooperation with the "Osyayannia" Literary Club continued in the field of socio-cultural activities. The main areas of its work were:
A significant project of the year was assistance to the Izyum Library, being restored after the occupation. The "Osyayannia" Literary Club joined this cause informationally, financially and personally during a volunteer trip. Over a thousand modern books in the Ukrainian language were donated then, the Club members participated in the volunteer trip led by the Head of the Fiction Department of the Scientific Library. Reports on funds collected and expenses were published on the Club's Facebook and Instagram pages.

In 2023, due to the University structure optimization, the staff of the Scientific Library was reduced: instead of 68 employees, 38 remained.
In 2022, the Scientific Library server, containing the Electronic Library, databases, and websites, was transferred to a cloud environment. The employees were provided with a remote access to the “UFH” - Library system and the directory with the Library's working files (Libus). The computing resources of virtual servers were also optimized, which increased the efficiency of work and the reliability of access to databases.
On the occasion of the "Radioelectronics and Youth in the 21st Century" International Youth Forum, held by the University, the Thematic Rubricator of UDC Indexes was created, which included 476 indexes, arranged according to the topics of the Conferences and Sections of the Forum.
The Scientific Library joined the "WarInUkraineArchive 2022" Digital Archive Project, aimed at joint archiving of documentary evidence about the war in Ukraine in 2022. Coordinators from the Scientific Library filled the archival database with materials recording acts of aggression by the Russian Federation against Ukraine: photographs, posters, videos, websites, publications on social networks, and literary sources. Over the course of nine months, 19 thematic stories were collected, processed, and presented for the Archive, and 7 information channels were identified for systematic monitoring.
The “QI Q3 Journals” electronic resource project was implemented in cooperation with the Scientific Research Group of the University. Its goal was to facilitate the selection of Q1, Q2, and Q3 categories scientific journals on the subject of the KhNURE so that scientists could have the possibility to publish their work in them. This resource contains lists of publications indicating their quartiles, rating positions, popularity and demand indicators. The pilot version of the resource was transferred to University scientists for testing.
The ElAr KhNURE Repository transition to the new version of the DSpace platform 7.4 was realized. The update provided integration with the ORCID and merged two previously separate user interfaces, significantly improving the ease of working with the Archive.
From December 1, 2021, the Scientific Library joined the network of official digital education hubs of the National Online Platform for Digital Literacy - "The Action (Diya). Digital Education". The "Digitization. Experience. Support" hub was organized in the Electronic Reading Room, which should contribute to increasing digital literacy both among the University community and all interested parties.
A special website was created on the occasion of the XXVI International Youth Forum “Radio Electronics and Youth in the 21st Century” and the “Exhibition of Technical Creativity of Youth” held by the National University of Radio Electronics. During the preparation period, the following work was carried out:
During the year, the Press Service of the Library was created, i,e, a working group that united representatives of various departments and services with the aim of improving the mechanisms of covering events, popularizing activities and funds in the news sections of the official website and in social networks. The Press Service included: a manager, a text editor, a video material developer, a social network administrator, as well as specialists involved in preparing posts, drafting e-mails, and sending informational messages.
The Scientific Library participated in the "Academic Integrity and Educational Quality Initiative (Academic IQ)" of the American Councils for International Education Project, aimed at implementing the principles of academic integrity at the KhNURE. A representative from the Scientific Library became an expert in analyzing the quality of education within the framework of this Project.
A new topic classifier was developed in the "Springer Link Portal Resources" Electronic Catalog for convenient search of electronic books published by Springer Nature (2017), integrated with full texts into the Electronic Catalog of the Scientific Library. The bibliographic record template was edited to correctly display the DOI identifier in document descriptions.
The functionality of the "Pre-registration for the Scientific Library of the KhNURE" service was updated: The Skype connection of the user with the Library was added; the ability appeared to check data.
A new Topic Classifier was created in the Electronic Catalog – “Complexes of Educational and Methodological Support of Disciplines” (CEMSD), an additional access point to this information resource of the Library.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Scientific Library did not stop working. Remote authorized access to the Library server was established, which made it possible to combine employees' home PCs and the Library servers into a single local network protected by a reliable encryption
During quarantine restrictions, remote work methods were implemented: using the ZOOM and Google Meet Internet platforms; creating a group in Viber to participate in remote events; promptly informing employees; conducting classes with the Library employees on the basics of remote work and the Library services.
The work on forming the modern image of the Library was continued: the Telegram bot, Telegram channel, Linkedin profile were developed and implemented, a video recording was used for creating a video about the work of the Service Department of the Library commissioned by the Department of Media Systems and Technologies of the University.
The "Handbook for Freshman-2020" was created in a new format using the Visual Studio Code program.
Video instructions on various technological processes of the Library were developed using the Bandicam screen recording program and processing of the created video material in the Bandicut program.
Work startd on checking the works of applicants for the first (bachelor's) level of higher education using the "Unicheck" anti-plagiarism online system.

A new service for clarifying citations and a service for assigning UDC indices were launched through the HELPDESK on the Library website.
As part of the "Display-crossing" Project of the ULA Youth Section, the Library departments exhibited the "Read with Taste" book exhibitions to popularize educational and methodological literature.
Technologies were developed for attaching the cover image and contents of the publication to the bibliographic description on the Electronic Catalog (EC) web page.
A new socio-cultural event, "Holidays in the Library", was launched for schoolchildren - potential applicants.
The technology of use was developed and the first stage of the user's electronic ticket was implemented.
Groups were created on the Facebook and INSTAGRAM social networks to provide informational support for activities of the Library.
"Libraries of the World", a color calendar for 2019, was created in the direction of developing promotional products.
The "Blockchain in the Library" educational lecture was held in the direction of professional development for library workers of the city.

The series of workshops on the psychology of communication (master class, lecture, training) was continued.
Testing of an open electronic platform, the Trust portal (the TRUST Project of the International Tempus Consortium), was carried out to organize the procedure for evaluating the achievements of the University employees (in particular, employees of the Library).
An e-conference module was developed on the Library website for technical support of Internet conferences.
Work was started on creating an electronic collection of full texts of explanatory notes (ENs) to the attestation theses of Masters/Specialists for further verification of borrowings in the works of diploma students.
Work on the Project on the history of the Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics was continued: final editing, posting of materials on the Library website, and preparation for printing were completed.
A series of practical classes in conflictology on the topic "Resolving Interpersonal Conflicts" for the Library employees was launhed.
The Electronic Archive was updated, transition to DSpace version 5.5, an open-source, free-access platform for self-archiving documents was realized.
The Scientific and Bibliographic Department initiated the creation of a series of video clips, virtual sketches, under the general title “Stories of One Street” .
The Department of Fiction with the participation of the "Osyayannia" Club members initiated the "Reading Aloud" Project to introduce young students to the best examples of World literature (plays, stories, short stories).
The Scientometric Monitoring Sector in the Electronic Resources Department launched a systematic tracking of data on scientometric databases, calculation of publication activity indicators of the KhNURE scientists, organization of workshops and trainings, support of scientists' profiles in registers (in particular the ORCID), and consulting of scientists on relevant issues.
Specialists of the Scientific Library developed and tested a formula that, taking into account significant coefficients, determined the level of publication activity of the University's scientists.
The Integrated Electronic Catalog (IEC) web page was developed for more convenient use.
The Library also participated in the translation of the ISO standards from English, in particular the DSTU ISO 16439:2016 (ISO 16439:2014 IDT) - "Information and Documentation. Methods and Procedures for Assessing the Impact of Libraries."
The Project on the History of Kharkiv National University of Radio Electronics (KhNURE) was launched. Together with the University Museum, archival research was conducted to find information about students and teachers who studied and worked at the Institution in the period 1962–1966, when the Institution was called the Kharkiv Institute of Mining Engineering, Automation and Computer Engineering (KhIMEACE). Three main stages of work were completed: collection of archival data, editing of the database, and preparation of a reference publication.
An online dictionary of information and library terms was created, aimed at practicing librarians, the Library users, and first-year students studying the "Fundamentals of Information Culture" course section.
A poster session was held: during the seminar, reports in the form of posters were placed in electronic format on the Library's computers.
The interface of the search page of the "UFH" Electronic Catalog was updated. New methods, forms and types of information were introduced for training classes with students on the "Fundamentals of Information Culture" course.
A new service was created for users – “Generation of Bibliographic Description According to DSTU DOST 7.1:2006”. Mini-surveys of users were introduced on the Library website to promptly collect and process relevant data.
An authorized access to the "Electronic Educational and Methodological Complexes" (EEMC) resource on the Library website through readers' Google accounts was developed.
Virtual exhibitions and videos were created in the ProShow Program with corresponding links posted on the Library's website.
A virtual database of the EEMC materials was created for all academic disciplines in accordance with the standards for training specialists in various fields.
Scientometrics trainings were conducted for scientists and teachers, aimed at increasing scientometric activity indicators.
A database of photos of applicants for the 2014/2015 admission campaign was created, and the photos were processed in the GIMP 2 Program.
Slide presentations were prepared for classes on the "Fundamentals of Information Culture" course.
Step-by-step instructions and technological maps were developed to regulate work with the "UFH - Library" AILS modules.

The revival of the Library began - the fund returned from the evacuation and from the Derzhprom (the State Industrial Committee) Scientific and Technical Library. The higher education institution was re-profiled to the Mining and Industrial Institute.
During the Second World War, part of the fund was transferred to the Scientific and Technical Library of the Derzhprom (the State Industrial Committee) for preservation, and part was evacuated to the city of Karaganda.
The Engineering and Construction Institute was created on the basis of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute. There is no information about the library staff. The fund consisted approximately of 80 thousand items.
